People in Brentwood & Ongar Labour

Brentwood & Ongar Labour is run by an Executive Committee made up of 11 members. It is elected each June at our Annual General Meeting.

Gareth Barrett

Gareth was our Parliamentary candidate in the 2024 general election. He has been a councillor on Brentwood Borough Council since 2015. From 2023 to 2024, he served as the Mayor of Brentwood. He is our Campaigns Officer. Outside of the Labour Party, he works in public affairs. He specialises in clean energy.

Tim Barrett

Tim has been a councillor on Brentwood Borough Council since 2019. Since 2023, he has served as the leader of our group in the council. He is our Policy Officer. Outside of the Labour Party, he works in science. He specialises in cancer research.

Liz Jerrard

Liz is our newest councillor and she has been on Brentwood Borough Council since 2024. She is our Women’s Officer. Outside of the Labour Party, she works in technology. She specialises in software development.

Richard Millwood

Richard has been a candidate for Essex County Council. He has been our Chair since 2014, overseeing four general election campaigns. Outside of the Labour Party, he worked in higher education and is now a research fellow. He specialises in computer science.

Kevin Hind

Kevin was a Parliamentary candidate in the 2010 general election. He was a long-serving councillor in Bury St. Edmunds before moving here in 2022. He is our Vice Chair and represents our members in Ongar. Outside of the Labour Party, he works in publishing. He specialises in software development.

Jane Winter

Jane is a councillor on Ingatestone and Fryerning Parish Council. She is our Secretary. Outside of the Labour Party, she worked in healthcare.

Johanna Saunders

Johanna is our Treasurer. Outside of the Labour Party, she worked in healthcare in the Netherlands before moving to the United Kingdom and retraining in finance after becoming a parent. She specialises in accountancy.

Cliff Roney

Cliff is our Trade Union Liaison Officer and represents any members in affiliated trade unions. Outside of the Labour Party, he worked in trade unionism. He now campaigns against corruption. He specialises in the water industry.

Alison Wingfield

Alison has been a councillor on Ongar Town Council. She has been a candidate for Epping Forest District Council. She is our Fundraising Officer. Outside of the Labour Party, she worked in local government. She specialises in management.

Neil McAree

Neil has been a councillor on Tower Hamlets London Borough Council. He has been a candidate for Brentwood Borough Council. He is our Auditor. Outside of the Labour Party, he worked in secondary education and has been a head teacher. He specialises in maths.
